“Bad Cat”
2026, Oil on Canvas, 12×12 inches
Claire HarnEnz is a painter and writer. She holds a BA in Studio Art and English with a concentration in writing from Kenyon College (2017) and an MFA in Painting from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture (2024). Her artwork has been exhibited at Gund Gallery in Ohio, Temple Contemporary in Philadelphia, and Harper’s in New York. She was the recipient of two Elizabeth Greensheilds Foundation Grants and a finalist for the Hopper Prize.
Her paintings function as contemporary allegories, reflecting a world in flux where the lines between symbol and story, figure and ground, begin to dissolve. Animals appear often, especially horses, as vessels for human feeling: fractured, watchful, caught between flight and stillness.
